What Chemicals Do I Need To Power Wash My House?

Pressure washing in Canton is an effective method for cleaning big or inaccessible surfaces free of stubborn stains. For a more thorough cleaning, you can use the cleaning solution nozzle found on many modern pressure washers. You may want to think about switching to a “soft wash” method of cleaning instead of utilizing high pressure.

You can use several cleaning solutions, such as cleaners, degreasers, efflorescence removers, mineral deposit removers, restorers, and rust removers. But have you ever considered how these products get rid of stains so effectively? Here are three of the most popular chemicals used in pressure washing and what they are used for.

1.  Oxalic Acid:

You can find this acid in a wide range of plant foods, including fruits, nuts, and seeds. It has benefits for both your health and cleanliness. In its refined form, oxalic acid serves as a bleaching agent and appears as a white crystalline material. Common applications include cleaning wood and stone of stains and rust.

2.  Bleach:

Bleach is a combination of sodium hydroxide and sodium hypochlorite, two additional common stain and grease removers. It’s an alkaline chemical that does a fantastic job of cleaning and sanitizing floors and counters. Avoid using bleach on copper, brass, stainless steel, porous wood, and delicate stones due to its potency.

3.  Ammonia:

Ammonia is another chemical that can be used in a pressure washer. Ammonia is a gaseous compound of nitrogen and hydrogen that occurs naturally. It lacks color and has a strong, unpleasant smell. It’s not a particularly pleasant aroma, but this alkaline cleaner gets the job done well and is suitable for use on sensitive surfaces like glass and stainless steel.

Can You Clean Your Home with a Chemical?

The mildew and grime that accumulates on the exterior of your home can be difficult to remove, and some cleaning products just aren’t strong enough to do the job. There are also chemicals that will do the job, but at the expense of your exterior, eating away at it. Not what we’re going for! What, then, should you employ?

There are solutions, but there is more than one, so you can pick and choose among them. Household chores are much easier with regular detergent. It is powerful enough to kill off pests and scrub away grime.

However, not all soaps provide enough cleaning. The best solution appears to be bleach. You simply toss it in your power washer and go to cleaning. Bleach is widely believed to be effective and is frequently used in tandem with high-powered water sprayers.

Will a Fresh Coat of Paint Hide My Home’s Grime?

The short response is “no.” Never try to cover up mildew or insect damage with paint. When painting the exterior, picture a spider web behind the paint. The spider web will eventually break off, the paint will chip, and all your hard work will have been for nothing. It is essential to clean the property thoroughly before painting.

It’s not a good idea to just paint over old paint if you want your home to seem nice and fresh. In the event that your paint is in good condition, a simple wash should do the trick.

If you were planning on painting your home, you should give it a good pressure washing first to get rid of mildew and other contaminants, so you would be stuck with the cleaning duty anyhow. You might also use bleach in a power washer to get rid of the paint, which is your best bet.
